2025 Mermaid Society Calendar Competition Fundraiser
About the competition
We are asking all our young artists in San Marcos to create artwork that represents the San Marcos River or the San Marcos Mermaid. Artwork may be in any format (paint, pencil, photography, sculpting, etc), but submissions must be landscape images of the artwork to be able to be printed on a calendar (depending on the aspect ratio of the submission, some submissions may need to be cropped slightly to be printed on the calendar). Submissions will be open until the end of April, then voting will be held during MerMay!
How will voting work?
We’re so glad you asked! This is a fundraiser because the submission that raises the most money through voting will be on the cover of the calendar, and the next 12 submissions will earn monthly spots in the calendar. When voting begins, we will have separate donation links for each submission, so we will be able to see which submission each donation is supporting! Voters can select their favorite artwork with as little as $1 or as much as they wish to contribute. Part of the funds raised during voting will pay for the winners to each get a copy of the calendar, and the remainder will go to support the Mermaid Society Youth Eco-Stewardship Programs.
How do I get a copy of the calendar?
These calendars will be for 2026, and while winners will each be sent one copy of the calendar, pre-orders for the calendar will open to the general public between June and September, allowing time for us to order the calendars and get them sent out before the beginning of 2026! Once pre-orders open, you will see it at the top of the Mermaid Marketplace page.
