The Mermaid Capital of Texas Fest is making waves with a 10-day, city-wide celebration that brings San Marcos to life like never before! It’s more than a festival—it’s a community movement to celebrate the magic of our river, the creativity of our people, and the vibrant spirit that makes our city shine.

From pop-up events and art shows to themed happy hours, concerts, and eco-workshops—organizations, businesses, and locals alike are invited to dive in and create their own splash! Whether you're planning a mermaid-themed yoga class or hosting a river cleanup, there’s a place for everyone in this incredible kickoff to summer.

This year, May 17th brings a powerful alignment. It’s not only the day of our beloved Mermaid Promenade and Aqua Blues Music & Art Festival—it also coincides with National Endangered Species Day, National River Clean-Up Day, and National Recycling Day.

This is a unique opportunity to unite celebration with purpose—to raise awareness, highlight our local endangered species, and inspire our community to take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.
